Katie DuBois, CPA is a Senior Accountant at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts. With a strong academic background and a passion for problem solving, she brings a unique blend of skills and experience to our team of financial professionals.

A native of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, Katie attended the University of New Hampshire, where she graduated summa cum laude, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with options in both accounting and information systems and business analytics. Katie holds AICPA and NHSCPA memberships, loves trying new things, and thrives on challenges — all traits that make her an excellent member of the LMR team where she focuses on tax and audit services.

Prior to joining the team, Katie honed her people skills working as an office manager, in several restaurants, and as an intern at our firm!

A resident of Tuftonboro, Katie loves skiing, hiking, traveling, and being lakeside with friends and family.

Margarita Gaponov joined the LMR team in 2023 as a Staff Accountant. Margarita was born and raised in New Hampshire, but she is very connected to her Slavic heritage. Her grandparents are originally from Kiev, Ukraine and Margarita grew up learning their language, culture, and traditions.

Margarita graduated from New England College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting as well as her Master of Science in Accounting. In her role at LMR, Margarita focuses primarily on preparing taxes and audit work. She has her AICPA and NHSCPA certifications and comes to work every day excited to crunch numbers and help clients optimize every tax benefit they are entitled to receive!

At Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, we appreciate Margarita’s commendable math skills, but it’s important to note that Margarita also loves music! While in college, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in music and performed at Carnegie Hall in a piano competition where she won 2nd place.

When she’s not crunching numbers, Margarita spends her time volunteering at the Slavic Baptist Church in Londonderry or spending time with her family and her two cats, Elsa and Lerka.

Shannon is a Staff Accountant at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, bringing extensive experience in auditing, forensic accounting, and private investigation. Shannon holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Plymouth State University, where she was recognized with the Criminal Justice Book Scholarship award. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in forensic accounting at Southern New Hampshire University.

Shannon prepares financial statements and single audits in her current role at the firm. She especially enjoys getting to know each client’s unique operations and learning about new industries with every engagement. Her prior experience in investigation allows her to bring a critical eye and attention to detail when auditing.

Outside of work, Shannon is actively involved with her alma mater, Plymouth State, serving as vice president of the class of 2018 and formerly holding leadership roles in the Kappa Delta Phi NAS sorority. She is also deeply passionate about supporting the American Diabetes Association in honor of her cousin Emily, who passed away from the disease in 2020.

Shannon enjoys an active lifestyle in her free time, including skiing, mountain biking, riding jet skis, playing soccer and softball, and traveling. Her happy place is spending time with her family, boyfriend Matt, and their three dogs, Tuukka, Jake, and Diesel, at their camp on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Elisa Careggio is a Staff Accountant at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts’ North Conway office. Raised in Torino, Italy, Elisa now resides in North Conway, New Hampshire, with her parents and her beloved dog, Luna. She recently graduated from Granite State College (GSC) with a degree in Accounting.

Elisa has always had a love for mathematics, starting in childhood when she dreamed of becoming a math teacher. Before joining Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Elisa gained valuable experience managing a coffee shop, where she handled payroll, inventory management, and ordering supplies. Her diverse background has equipped her with a strong foundation in various operational aspects of business management.

At Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Elisa is passionate about helping clients with their taxes and overall business profitability. She appreciates the welcoming atmosphere at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts and values the support and mentorship from her colleagues. A member of the AICPA, Elisa is eager to explore all areas of accounting to find her niche within the field.

Elisa enjoys giving back to the community and has a history of volunteer work, starting during her high school years.

In her free time, Elisa loves traveling to tropical destinations, a passion she shares with her family through frequent cruises. She also enjoys outdoor activities such as walking, hiking with Luna, swimming, skiing, and snowmobiling.

Nicholas “Nick” Patti has joined Leone, McDonnell & Roberts as a Staff Accountant, bringing his unique blend of entrepreneurial experience and academic excellence to the firm.

A lifelong New Hampshire resident, Nick graduated with an accounting degree from the University of New Hampshire in May 2024. Before joining LMR, Nick demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by successfully running a six-figure startup through Student Painters while still in school.

At LMR, Nick focuses on gaining hands-on experience in the audit and tax fields. He particularly enjoys working with diverse clients and learning about different business practices and approaches. Nick appreciates the collaborative and friendly culture at LMRPA and values the strong relationships among team members.

Nick has consistently achieved academic excellence throughout his college career, earning recognition on the Dean’s List every semester. When not at work or studying, Nick’s happy place is relaxing on a warm, tropical beach.

Maria Fellows joined Leone, McDonnell & Roberts as a full-time staff accountant after interning with the firm as an undergrad. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) in 2023 and her master’s degree in professional accountancy at SNHU in 2024.

Maria brings a unique blend of experience to her role, having worked in customer-facing positions before launching her accounting career. Her early work experience taught her the importance of communication and problem-solving—skills she applies daily in her work with clients at LMRPA.

Maria’s favorite aspect of accounting is the sense of accomplishment that comes with completing complex tasks. She compares her work to solving a puzzling — challenging, but everything fits together in the end. Her favorite thing about Leone, McDonnell & Roberts is the firm’s welcoming and supportive environment where her colleagues have made her transition from intern to full-time staff both seamless and enjoyable.

As a child, Maria dreamed of owning an ice cream truck or becoming a teacher. Now, when she’s not in the office, she enjoys watching basketball, playing golf, and snowboarding, her favorite pastime.

Thomas “Tom” Smail is a Staff Accountant at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, applying his extensive range of auditing and corporate accounting experience to help clients daily. Raised in Troy, NY, and currently residing in Portsmouth, NH, Tom launched his career in healthcare before moving into finance. Over the last several years, he has worked in healthcare, banking, capital markets, and green energy sectors, with expertise in revenue, leases, cash management, accounts payable, derivatives, and loans.

In his role at the firm, Tom works closely with businesses to understand their core needs and competencies. He uses this insight to help both companies and their people thrive. Tom currently focuses on delivering audit services. However, he is eager to expand his skill set into tax services to further his support of LMR’s clients.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in Global Health Policy from the University of Richmond, a Master’s in Public Health from Eastern Virginia Medical School, and a Master’s in Accounting from the College of William and Mary. His unique academic background equips him to offer effective accounting solutions with both technical and strategic insights.

When not helping the firm’s clients, Tom enjoys running, golfing, and scuba. He’s earned his scuba diving certification and has diving with whale sharks at the top of his bucket list. He also has a knack for voice impressions — further proof of his many talents! Tom is passionate about giving back and is involved in the Smiles Bring Hope charity.

Colby Combs is a Staff Accountant in LMR’s Dover office, where he focuses primarily on tax preparation for individuals, businesses, and nonprofits. His work includes preparing 1040s, 1120s, 990s, and 1065s, giving him exposure to a wide range of client needs. What Colby enjoys most about accounting is the variety. He values the challenge of a field that is both broad and complex, one that pushes him to keep learning and improving.

Colby earned both his bachelor’s degree (2023) and MBA (2024) from Thomas College, achieving high honors every semester. A tax internship during his junior year confirmed his interest in the profession, leading him to pursue public accounting as a career after graduation.

Originally from Waldoboro, Maine, Colby now resides in Dover, NH. He is a member of both the AICPA and NHSCPA and is working toward his CPA license – a milestone he plans to celebrate with his first international trip, likely to Italy or Japan. When he’s not at the office, Colby enjoys watching soccer and football, staying active at the gym, trying new recipes in the kitchen, and picking up hobbies like reading and golf.

Marcos Marenco brings a strong public and governmental accounting foundation to his role as an Audit Staff Accountant at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts. A graduate of Plymouth State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a minor in Economics, Marcos is currently furthering his education by pursuing an MBA at Trine University.

Before joining LMRPA, Marcos spent nearly two years in public accounting, working extensively in governmental accounting and developing expertise in financial statement compilation, reviews, and audits. He enjoys the challenge of problem-solving and discovering new approaches to complex financial issues. His favorite part of working at LMRPA is the supportive and collaborative environment.

Originally from Monteverde, Costa Rica, Marcos now resides in Concord, NH. His passion for leadership and service was evident during his college years, where he served as President of Sigma Tau Gamma and led fundraising efforts for the Special Olympics.

Outside of work, Marcos loves nature and visiting his happy place: a mountain peak in Monteverde, where he can take in the beautiful scenery. At the top of his bucket list is a trip to experience the Northern Lights.

Jalyn Pearl is a Staff Accountant at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, where she supports both audit and tax engagements across a wide range of industries.

Jalyn graduated summa cum laude from Bentley University with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) at Bentley. Before joining LMR, she spent two years as a business intern in the public utilities sector, gaining valuable hands-on experience in financial operations.

She enjoys the dynamic nature of the accounting profession, especially the opportunity to connect with a variety of clients and gain insight into how different businesses operate. One of her favorite things about LMR is working with our welcoming and helpful team of professionals.

Jalyn currently lives in Haverhill, MA with her family. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors, swimming, and snowmobiling. Her top bucket list item? Visiting every island in the Caribbean.

Janie Donahue is a Staff Accountant in the firm’s Dover office. A lifelong resident of Fremont, NH, she graduated from Merrimack College in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Accounting.

During her time at Merrimack, Janie earned President’s List honors every semester for maintaining a GPA of 3.75 or higher. She also gained valuable experience through a semester-long Co-Op at a local accounting firm, where she focused primarily on audit work. That opportunity gave her firsthand insight into the profession and confirmed her interest in pursuing a career in public accounting.

At Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Janie continues to build her expertise on the audit side while working toward her CPA designation. She enjoys the accounting field for its variety and opportunities to learn and grow, as well as the fast-paced, detail-oriented nature of the work.

Outside of the office, Janie values time at the beach in Saco, Maine. She also enjoys cooking and baking, which she sees as both relaxing and a way to be creative. Janie’s childhood dream jobs ranged from waitress to race car driver. While she crossed waitressing off the list in college, she still hopes to experience the thrill of driving on a track one day.

Nathaniel Barber is a Staff Accountant in our North Conway office, where he supports a variety of client engagements, from audit workpapers to individual tax returns. He enjoys the challenge of accounting. To Nathaniel, every project is a puzzle—one that’s solved through sharp thinking and attention to detail.

Nathaniel graduated magna cum laude from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Accounting and Finance. He was a Paul Scholar all four years and served as Vice President of Finance for his fraternity, Alpha Sigma Phi. Before joining LMR full-time, he got a head start as an intern with the firm.

A lifelong New Hampshire resident, Nathaniel lives in his hometown with his family. His happy place is canoeing, kayaking, or just relaxing by the water. In fact, Nathaniel loves the water so much that as a child, he had dreams of being a pirate — before realizing that accounting might offer a more practical professional path.
