Thomas W. Roberts

Tom joined Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Professional Association in 1987 and currently works part time in the firm’s North Conway and Wolfeboro offices. Over the years, Tom has helped guide the day-to-day operations at our North Conway office, working toward the overall growth and sustainability of the firm in the community. Tom specializes in providing reliable consulting and tax planning services for private, family-owned businesses. He is also involved with the firm’s nonprofit organization practice.

Prior to joining Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Tom worked at a regional CPA firm in Chicago, Illinois for eight years. Tom began his public accounting career in 1979.

With a professional background of more than 40 years, Tom has established the necessary experience and acumen to assist his clients with a wide range of issues. In one instance, he helped an inn and restaurant client more than double its business interruption insurance payout. For another client, Tom assisted with converting the business to a limited liability company saving them significant tax dollars. Beyond his client success stories, he has shared his extensive knowledge as a volunteer and board member for numerous nonprofit organizations.

Tom was inspired to pursue a career in the accounting field due to his interest and natural abilities in problem solving. Today he attributes his success to his strong people skills and the lasting relationships he builds with his clients.

Born and raised in Chicago, Tom currently resides in Wolfeboro with his wife, Rita, and their two children. Outside the office, Tom’s hobbies include biking, skiing, hiking and fishing.

Joe joined Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Professional Association in 2005, and is responsible for managing client relationships and staff. Joe also oversees client development.

In addition to his management duties, Joe provides a wide array of reliable, high quality services to his clients. He maintains particular specialization with financial planning, investments, retirement plans and insurance, as well as tax return preparation and planning for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts and estates, gift taxes, not-for-profits and retirement plans. Moreover, Joe has extensive experience representing both businesses and individuals during audits before the IRS and the State of New Hampshire. He works with a variety of clients including those in the manufacturing, construction, consulting, sales, wholesale and retail, country club, condo association and real estate industries.

Joe began his career more than two decades ago, working for two small New York City CPA firms over the course of a six-year period. He then transitioned to a large firm, Grant Thornton LLP, where he performed audits of public and private companies that included filings with the SEC. In 1998, Joe joined H. Richard & Co., CPAs in New Hampshire, which merged with Leone, McDonnell & Roberts approximately six years later.

Growing up, Joe always excelled in math and science and especially enjoyed complex problem solving. These skills and interests led him to focus on accounting and finance in college and pursue a career in the field. Today, Joe attributes his success to his friends, family and the numerous influential colleagues he has worked with over the years. He also credits his appreciation for life and not taking things for granted to his mother and brother, both of whom lost their battles with cancer.

Joe was raised on Long Island, New York. He currently resides in Exeter, New Hampshire. Outside the office, Joe enjoys boating, playing golf and spending time with family and friends.

In her role as Principal, Tavia oversees work performed by the firm’s staff level employees, such as audits, reviews, compilations and tax preparation.

Tavia joined Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Professional Association in 1995. In her role as Principal, she oversees work performed by the firm’s staff level employees, such as audits, reviews, compilations and tax preparation. In her own client responsibilities, Tavia specializes in accounting systems analysis and consulting. She also consults with clients regarding their tax planning, banking and financing needs.

Tavia has extensive experience working with closely-held construction companies, including general contractors and sub-contractors. In addition, she possesses a deep understanding of construction from both sides of the desk. Tavia grew up working on job sites during the summers helping her father, a contractor in his own right, allowing her to develop familiarity with the workers, foremen, job superintendents, needs of the owners and the bankers who serve them.

Tavia began her public accounting career in 1992 at the CPA firm of DiSalvo & Associates, PA. There she assisted with payroll preparation, tax return preparation and write-up work. Tavia also got a taste for the accounting profession in a part-time role at Street Electric, Inc., a family-owned electrical contracting company, where she assisted with all aspects of monthly and annual financial statement preparation. While at Street Electric, Inc., she served as an assistant to the company’s controller, who was one of Tavia’s greatest mentors. Tavia is forever grateful to this mentor, who previously served in the same role for the producers of the “Rambo” series of films with Sylvester Stallone, for the invaluable knowledge and experience she gained as a result of her tutelage.

With an accounting background of more than two decades, Tavia has developed the necessary skill set to provide expert recommendations to help her clients succeed. On numerous occasions, she has assisted small businesses faced with tens of thousands of dollars in software upgrades to utilize much less expensive software and customize it to meet their needs. In another instance, Tavia helped a contractor uncover software problems and recreated their data to help save them hundreds of thousands in tax dollars.

When determining the career path that would best fit her personal interests and priorities, Tavia chose accounting because she felt she could take it with her wherever she goes. She desired a career where she was not forced to sit in one place and do the same thing every day. Tavia’s decision proved to be the right one, as her career has allowed her to travel, meet interesting people, and observe the fascinating and diverse effects finance has on people’s lives. Today she attributes her success to her faith, her supportive family and the first-class working environment at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts.

Tavia was born and raised in Meredith, New Hampshire with her parents and sister. She currently resides in Center Sandwich with her husband and son. Outside the office, Tavia maintains a variety of hobbies and interests, including long-distance swimming, trap-shooting, fine guns, fast cars, big trucks, traveling anywhere with warm temperatures and water, photography, art, cooking and snorkeling. She also enjoys staying actively involved with her son’s activities.

Brieanna first joined Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Professional Association in 2011. As a Principal in our Dover, NH location, Brieanna’s oversees many of the firm’s non-profit, HUD, and low-income housing audits. Throughout her tenure at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Brieanna has earned a reputation for leveraging her impeccable attention to detail and strong organizational skills to deliver the financial support clients need to navigate through the potentially arduous audit process seamlessly and successfully.

Brieanna graduated from Southern New Hampshire University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She launched her career at a firm located in Tewksbury, MA that same year. There, Brieanna teamed with clients in a diverse range of industries and gained invaluable experience in professional tax management.

At Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Brieanna has proven that math and numbers aren’t her only superpowers. She also has exceptional people skills and enjoys traveling to client locations where she can closely collaborate with partners to understand their specific audit needs and concerns. Brieanna effortlessly establishes herself as a trusted resource to our clients, acting as an extension of their organization to ensure they hit every audit deadline and deliverable. As a dedicated Leone, McDonnell & Roberts contributor, Brieanna uses her extensive insight and knowledge to develop customized financial audit solutions to help resolve any client issue.

When not hard at work in the office, Brieanna enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She spends considerable time traveling New England watching her children’s sporting events.

Ryan launched his accounting career with Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Professional Association in 2013 as a recent college graduate. Although new to the field, Ryan’s accounting skills and insights helped him quickly establish himself as an invaluable on-site resource for both clients and colleagues alike. In July 2023, Ryan was promoted to Principal in our Wolfeboro, NH office. In this role, Ryan manages multiple areas of accounting expertise. Some of his many specialties include audits of closely-held companies and not-for-profit organizations as well as tax planning and preparation for both individuals and businesses.

Ryan brings a diverse range of skills and talents to the firm that extend beyond his exceptional accounting capabilities. Ryan is committed to customer service excellence at all times, continuously building and expanding relationships with clients for long-term professional partnerships. He is also a natural problem-solver, going above and beyond to resolve customer questions and concerns for optimal results.

Ryan graduated cum laude from the University of New Hampshire in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in accounting. He completed his graduate degree in 2013, earning a Master of Science in accounting. When not in the office, Ryan can often be found outdoors, camping and playing sports with his sons. He’s also an avid hiker who hopes to someday conquer the Appalachian Trail. Ryan and his wife, Shaylyn, reside in Wolfeboro along with their children.

Kimberly started her career at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts in 2015 after graduating from Plymouth State University. During her time at Plymouth State, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a minor in Professional Communication. She also earned the distinction of being a Top 20 Senior and graduating summa cum laude (she doesn’t like to brag—but we’re happy to do it for her!).

A Manager in our Dover, New Hampshire office, Kimberly has focused on auditing, with some tax work that spans nonprofits, manufacturing, and employee benefit plan audits. Kimberly loves working with clients in various industries, gaining an understanding of different verticals, forming professional relationships, traveling to clients, and working as a team to achieve goals and deadlines. She also assists in the firm’s recruiting process and training new staff members, proving that she’s a true team player willing to jump in and help out with whatever the firm needs.

Kimberly is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants (NHSCPA).  She serves on both the Society’s Board of Directors and on the Young Professionals Committee. An active member of the Board of Directors for Dover Adult Learning Center (DALC), Kimberly serves as the Treasurer and on the Finance Committee.

A resident of Somersworth, NH, Kimberly enjoys camping, boating, snowboarding, and spending time with family and friends. With a strong sense of adventure and passion for travel, Kim hopes to visit all of the National Parks in the United States.

Angela joined the Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Professional Association team in 2008 and currently serves as Manager in our North Conway office where she specializes in a variety of tax and audit services. Her areas of expertise include audit, reviews, and compilation services within the nonprofit sector as well as tax preparation and planning for individuals, partnerships, and S corporations in a wide range of industries. In her role as Manager, Angela gets to do what she does best: use her accounting and business skills to help individuals and organizations financially succeed.

Beyond her professional support of Leone, McDonnell & Roberts’ clients, Angela also lends her invaluable insight to colleagues and local organizations as a teacher and trainer. She has partnered with the Mount Washington Valley Economic Council’s Nonprofit Bootcamp where she’s taught courses on several industry-relevant topics including

• Board responsibilities for nonprofit organizations

Angela’s problem solving and math skills prompted her to pursue a BS in Accountancy from Case Western Reserve University where she graduated cum laude. In 1992, she launched her professional accounting career at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) where she gained invaluable experience partnering with clients that specialized in financial services. Coopers & Lybrand is also where Angela first developed her affinity for teaching and training.

Over the last 25+ years, Angela has gained the experience, skills, and competencies needed to serve and support clients with a diverse range of accounting issues. Her unwavering professionalism, follow-through, and organizational capabilities are just some of the many key differentiators that have contributed to Angela’s success at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts.

When she’s not in the office, you’ll find Angela spending time with her husband, Robert, and two sons at their Center Conway home, where she stays active by gardening, hiking, skiing, and reading. For Angela, the combination of working at an accounting firm with such a strong commitment to quality while living in a beautiful, small mountain town is the ultimate professional/personal life balance.

Laura joined Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Professional Association in 2016. In her role as Supervisor, Laura specializes in tax preparation and filing. Laura welcomes and thrives on the breakneck speed of tax management; she loves the challenge of always having something new to learn and master based on individual client need. She works on a part-time basis year round, extending her hours throughout the tax season to ensure her clients receive the professional accounting attention and expertise they deserve during what’s often their most chaotic time of year.

Laura graduated from Cornell University with a BA in Economics. She began her accounting career in 1994 and started at a local accounting firm in 1998 as a Supervisor. During her time at this firm, Laura gained valuable experience…working closely with clients in a multitude of industries, helping them navigate through a diverse range of financial situations including business valuation and forensic accounting. Her almost 25 years of experience has made her an invaluable asset to the Leone, McDonnell and Roberts team where she continuously raises the bar on what clients can expect from an accounting professional.

When not navigating through the busy tax season push, Laura enjoys summers spent with her three teenage sons at her home in Stratham. An avid hiker and traveler, Laura strives to combine these passions as often as possible; she once hiked across England, from coast to coast!

Lynn has been with Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Professional Association since 2002. In her 15+ years with the firm, Lynn has served in a multitude of capacities, proving that when it comes to accounting proficiencies, there’s truly nothing she can’t (and more importantly, nothing she won’t) do to support her growing portfolio of clients.

In her current role as Supervisor in our Wolfeboro, NH branch, Lynn’s area of expertise includes single audit, trusts, and estate. Lynn loves doing taxes (yes, really) and working with intricate number detail throughout the preparation and filing process. Her enthusiasm for her work shows; Lynn’s clients value her experience and insight, knowing their tax responsibilities are in capable, competent hands.

A Toledo, Ohio native, Lynn pursued an advanced accounting certificate in Accounting Coursework from Northeastern University after earning her MBA from the University of Detroit. Prior to joining Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Lynn sharpened her accounting skills at a tax practice in Revere, MA as well as a CPA firm in Lowell, MA. As a seasoned team veteran, Lynn partners with Leone, McDonnell & Roberts clients running businesses in a diverse range of verticals including Community Action Partnership, a local nonprofit organization that provides services, assistance, and care to residents in need.

Accounting isn’t Lynn’s only passion. She’s a self-proclaimed “gardening fanatic” who spends her free time outside honing her green thumb. She’s also an avid animal advocate who has volunteered countless hours at a local cat rescue center over the past six years. Lynn’s professional affiliation with Community Action has also inspired her personal life; she’s currently forming her own not-for-profit cat rescue organization to give back to her surrounding community.

Katie arrived at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts after graduating summa cum laude from UNH with a B.S. in Business Administration with an option in Accounting 2012 and an M.S. in Accounting in 2013. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants (NHSCPA).

Katie focuses her expertise primarily on audit and attestation engagements for closely-held businesses and not-for-profit organizations, including single audits. She also performs tax preparation services for closely-held businesses and not-for-profit organizations. In her role as Supervisor, Katie gets to work and problem solve with various audit teams, as well as build strong client partnerships. Her talent for mastering constantly-evolving standards and excitement for learning new things have made her an invaluable asset to the Leone, McDonnell & Roberts team.

An Exeter, NH native, Katie moved to Dover after college, where she currently resides. Outside the office, when the weather is nice, you can find her out on the Dover Community Trail. She is also an avid hockey fan and enjoys baking. Katie loves foreign languages and has studied five languages besides English, earning a Spanish minor in college.

A licensed New Hampshire CPA, Abby Lamothe joined Leone, McDonnell & Roberts in 2018. She first started with the firm as an intern in the summer of 2014, while she was completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of New Hampshire. Abby is a Supervisor in our Dover office.

Abby received her Master of Science in Accounting in 2015 and entered the workforce, gaining significant professional auditing experience as a healthcare and nonprofit auditor traveling throughout the northeast. And now—she’s back with us, where she not only gets to use her auditing skills on an almost daily basis, but she also spends her time helping new staff, organizing and planning jobs, and working directly with some of our many nonprofit organizations. In Abby’s own words, she comes to work every day excited to “help individuals and organizations navigate their financial data with confidence.”

Abby is a member of both the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She enjoys getting involved in the local community serving on the Board of Directors for the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce, as the Treasurer for Seacoast Eat Local and volunteering at the Pope Memorial Humane Society. She is also the founder of Seacoast Sweet Stitches, a group for fiber enthusiasts that focuses on knitting, crochet, embroidery, sewing, and more.

Abby also enjoys exercising and getting outside whenever possible and has been known to combine two of her passions by knitting while running 5Ks!

Christine first started at Leone, McDonnel & Roberts as an intern in the summer 2017. Her talent and work ethic impressed us so much we offered her a job before she left to complete her senior year of college. She graduated in 2018 from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting, and promptly joined our team full time as an Accountant.

During her time with the firm, Christine has focused primarily on audit and tax services, but has also contributed to our review and compilation capabilities. She loves spending her time helping clients and developing strong professional partnerships. She also enjoys continually gaining industry knowledge and accounting expertise—and it shows! In 2020, Christine earned her certified public accountant designation and in July 2023, she was promoted to Supervisor. Christine assists with the firm’s hiring and recruitment initiatives as well as the LMR mentor program.

Outside of the office, Christine enjoys going to the beach, boating and spending time with her family.
