We are pleased to announce that Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, PA Partner, Thomas Roberts, CPA was recently honored with the Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council’s Volunteer of the Year Award, along with five other Revolving Loan Committee members. The Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council’s (MWVEC) 28th annual business meeting and dinner was held November 15th at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort in North Conway.
Founded in 1990, the Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council works to enhance the community by fostering the formation of new business and attracting businesses to relocate to the Mt. Washington Valley area while ensuring harmonious development with natural resources and the current retail and recreational environment. Thomas, and five other members of the community, volunteer on the MWVEC Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Committee.
A revolving loan program is an economic tool to help communities grow and prosper. Funds such as the MWVEC revolving loan funds usually come from a combination of public sources like the State of New Hampshire and private organizations such as financial institutions and philanthropic organizations. They are distributed in hopes of increasing and/or creating economic development and full-time, year-round employment opportunities in the Mt. Washington Valley area.
Often complementing other financing sources, a revolving loan helps to bridge the funding gap. Prospective borrowers seeking to start a new business or expand a current business make presentations to the RLF Committee which are then thoroughly evaluated in hopes of being funded.
Tom and the other RLF board members were honored for their availability, responsiveness and dedication to the Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council. The committee’s efforts are essential in the loan application review and funding approval process. Their work is of tremendous benefit to the growth and development of the Mt. Washington Valley community.
“We are extremely lucky to have Tom Roberts as a member of the Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council’s Revolving Loan Committee,” said Executive Director Jac Cuddy. “His accounting expertise, business acumen, and volunteerism brings an immeasurable asset to the loan committee.”
