Payment Deadline Extended

Following President Trump’s emergency declaration pursuant to the Stafford Act, the US Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issued guidance allowing all individual and other non-corporate tax filers to defer up to $1 million of federal income tax (including self-employment tax) payments due on April 15, 2020, until July 15, 2020, without penalties or interest.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) has prompted multiple legislative and regulatory tax changes. The reform has even impacted documentation protocol. In early December 2019, the IRS announced a redesigned 2020 Form W-4. The form modifications are designed to better incorporate the changes enacted by the TCJA.
